Match Strength

Match Strength shows how closely a student fits a school's criteria at a glance — so schools can focus on their best-fit applicants, and students can see where they stand. It is calculated from the information in the Master Application against each school's preferences.

How Match Strength works

  • Each school chooses the criteria that matter to it, such as program, study level, province, start date, English test, grades or budget, and marks each one as a must-have or a nice-to-have.
  • Match Strength is the share of those criteria, weighted by importance, that the student meets. Criteria the school did not choose are not counted, and missing information never counts against the student.
  • A student who clearly misses a must-have is not shown to that school. If too little is known about a student, the label stays at Possible match.
  • Schools never see a student's budget amount, only whether it meets their cost range.

What is reverse admissions?
Usually students search for schools and apply. With reverse admissions, schools can also discover students: students publish one profile, and schools that are looking for students like them can invite them to connect.
Who can use ProxiMatch?
Students and schools. Students create their Student Profile by completing the Master Application. Registered schools search the Talent Pool for students who match their criteria.
Is ProxiMatch free for students?
Yes. ProxiMatch, the Master Application and the Student Profile are free for students, and no one can pay to appear higher in schools' results.
What can schools see about a student?
Only what the student's profile allows: first name, study plans, academic information, achievements and an approved photo. Never the last name, email, phone number, date of birth or address. Contact details are shared only after the student accepts a school's invitation.
Which study levels does ProxiMatch cover?
All of them, from preschool to postgraduate studies. For students under 18, a parent or guardian must give consent before the profile can be shown to schools.
How does a student get started?
Register as a student, then complete the Master Application. Once it is submitted with the student's permission and approved by our team, schools can find it.
How does a school get started?
Register your school, then open ProxiMatch to search for students. What a school can do in ProxiMatch depends on its membership plan.
Will Proxima Study ever call a student and ask for payment to help with the Master Application?
No. If someone contacts you claiming to be Proxima Study and asks you to pay for help with your Master Application, THEY ARE NOT PROXIMA STUDY. Do not pay them or give them any financial information.
